Celebrities love some of our designer's bridal gowns, you too could feel like a celebrity

Jenny Packham

Jenny Packham 'Elizabeth', designed for Elizabeth Hurley’s wedding to Arun Nayar. This beautifully jewelled silk chiffon empire gown combines romantic, sexy and show-stopping in equal measure. The vertical lines created at the front of the dress form a sense of height and narrowness.

Denise Van Outen married ’Joesph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat’ star Lee Mead in a private ceremony in the Seychelles. Denise wore a beautiful Jenny Packham gown 'Rosalind' with a very glam 70s-style headband, Brooke by Polly Edwards for Jenny Packham.

Suzanne Neville

Kirsty Gallacher marries rugby hunk Paul Sampson in romantic Andalusia. Kirsty’s divine Suzanne Neville bridal gown, it could not have complemented the magnificent setting of their wedding more perfectly. An elegant ivory silk dress overlaid with intricate French lace, the look was completed with an exquisite full-length veil.

Football star Gary Lineker and Danielle Bux were married, in a lavish Italian wedding. Miss Bux wore a simple cream dress for the service, but then slipped into her dream gown for the opulent party, taking place the next day. Looking blissfully happy, the bride posed for pics in a £9,000 satin custom-made gown, designed by Suzanne Neville.

Kate Middleton's Wedding Dress

We would love Kate Middleton to wear a wedding dress designed by Jenny Packham or Suzanne Neville!!

What To Wear?

It's set to be the most talked about wedding dress of 2011, so what exactly will Kate Middleton be wearing when she walks up the aisle to wed Prince William next year? We asked Britain's top fashion names.

Deborah Joseph, editor of Brides magazine
"I think she will wear a British designer but I can't decide whether she'll give a nod to tradition and go for someone classic such as Bruce Oldfield who designs many bespoke gowns for royalty. On the other hand she may be totally independent and forge her own way, setting herself up as a new fashion icon by choosing a dress designed by someone younger and hipper like Jenny Packham or Alice Temperley. She's a young, modern woman so I  think she will like to do her own thing but incorporate a traditional touch; for instance some brides take a piece of jewellery that belonged to someone special and have that sewn into the dress. I imagine she might like to do that."

Here is Suzanne Neville’s view of the royal wedding dress:

“There will be a lot of speculation as to what the chosen designer will make for Kate, but the most important thing will be to hear what Kate wants – the dress needs to reflect Kate’s personal style and personality.
If we were selected to create the gown, I would sit down with Kate, as I do with many of our clients, to find out exactly what she imagines her dream wedding gown to be and together we would create something completely incredible for her day.
Whilst the gown would have the handwriting of our shaping and be perfectly crafted to show off Kate’s figure, the gown would need to be a complete, one off, something incredibly special and unique.
Of course, the very best fabrics, hand beading and detailing would be used to finish it. It is incredibly important to make the gown fresh and modern but, more over, something timeless – the images will be referred back to for a long time to come.”

Bearing in mind that the new Suzanne Neville 2011 collection has dresses with names like Fairy Tale and Enchanting, it sounds like a perfect fit for a princess!

Mears Ghyll Milestone at The Midland Hotel

On Friday 12th November, Mears Ghyll Bridal Rooms of Brookhouse held their 5th year anniversary party, which was proudly hosted by the Midland Hotel, Morecambe.

The invitation-only event was attended by past brides and bridesmaids of Mears Ghyll, who were asked to wear their gowns on the evening.  Also in attendance were new clients of both Mears Ghyll Bridal Rooms and The Midland, to get a feel of what it would be like to marry in an iconic hotel in a beautiful designer wedding dress.  The evening included champagne and canapés on arrival, with entertainment from Boogie Bill and his Billionaires, and Sam Fitton, magician extraordinaire!  There was an exclusive raffle in aid of St John’s Hospice, with many local suppliers kindly donating prizes, with the top prize being £1000 off a Mears Ghyll wedding dress, a dream come true for any bride to be and won by Rachel Chapman who is to have her wedding reception at The Midland in May 2012.
‘We have had such a wonderful 5 years what better way to celebrate it than with all our fantastic brides!  We wanted to put on a real evening of entertainment and thought – when do brides ever get the opportunity to wear their dresses after the big day?  It was a fantastic sight, with all those brides in one place!  We also wanted to support a local charity and feel St John’s Hospice is an incredibly worthy cause.’

Guests had the chance to see bridal gowns from designers such as Alan Hannah along with many other beautiful dresses by British designers in a bridal gown preview on the night.  There were a few hand-picked suppliers available on the evening for brides to mingle with, such as The Midland in house florist Catherine of Wedding Flowers by Catherine, photographer Andrea Pickering and wedding cake designers at Blackberry Cottage Bakery Ltd.
